Tax on US shares

Hello,

I am due to receive US shares to the value of around £192k after the orginal outlay. I currently earn £20k annually before tax.

I'm not so good with numbers and I plan on seeking professional advice but I'm just trying to work out a ball park figure of how much cgt I will have to pay and if there are any ways I can reduce it.

Your advice would be much appreciated.

You are earning 20K in the April 6th to April 5th tax year here in the UK?

You are getting 192K in shares from USA in this tax year - Why?

As soon as you get the shares you are intending to sell them ?

Yes I will earn 20k between April last year and April this year.

I am holding shares and have exercised my stock options which are being bought out. Due to some issues with the IRS I have opted to receive the equity through an equity swap of blue chip stock.

I wouldn't be in a rush to sell. I would take advice on this. I'm just looking for the tax figure I'd expect to pay.
