    So:
3 seater settee(blue) but have changed the covers so its now red? he's taking the sofa and leaving you with 2 chairs for 3 of you?
    2 tvs/dvd player/video player 2 tv's worth nothing and stuff that doesn't work
    tv stand hardly worth anything
glass and wood dining table and 6 chairs doesn't seem like he can take these from the list above
    microwave doesn't work?
    pc and moniter
    all free standing furniture.

So basically he's got stuff on the levy he can't take, a load of stuff that doesn't work and stuff that won't fetch much at auction listed apart from a 3 seater sofa?
    Hope the others can help.

O.k right. I hope the others can help as the levy thing is not my field -it sounds like it might be invalid though so fingers crossed for you.
Do you have any other debts you are paying off as council tax is a priority debt - any unsecured credit cards, unsecured loans etc come way down the pile so any money you do have should go towards your priority debts with token payments being made towards the others for the meantime.

hallowitch will be back but there are two things here:

    1. The levy is probably illegal; given your contents, he should have advised the council that they have not enough value at auction to cover the debt and returned it to them
    2. Even though there are four accounts,he can only charge one lot of fees, so there are about £300 worth of illegal fees in there.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

i owe rent aswell, hence missed few bailiff payments but as they are both priority debts so carnt win, other debts come straight out of weekly benefits, and tv licence have now begun to threaten coz i owe 22 pounds? joke. i asked to pay straight from my benefit each week on direct debit they said no.
i told my mobile they would have to wait, i just want to be on a level. just so worried.
what do i do if they call at my door again? i let them in the first time as i phoned when i got the letter to arrange it, the man i spoke to was really nice and said they wouldnt take my stuff and when he said 10 pound a week for all 4 bills i was so relieved. never had to deal with bailiffs before.i feel annoyed with myself for missing some payments.

mell do mind if i ask if this is a north wales council (my council north wales )

what the bailiffs name if you don't want to put in on the main form send me a PM

its looking like your levy may be invalid

there are goods that are on the exempt list
there are goods levied that are broken
there are goods levied that have no value
the bailiff cant put all free standing furnishings he must list the goods

the remainder of the goods will not cover bailiff fees

i notice you have been charged levy wpa 1st and 2nd visit fees for 4 account (this is a no no ) and they will by now have added a van fee of £110 on to each account
how many notice of seizure of goods and inventory did he leave you if more than one do they all have the same goods listed on them

Detailed Assessment Judgment of Throssell v Leeds City Council where the District Judge ruled as follows:
“Turning to the taxation it seems to me that notwithstanding the fact that there were three liability orders but one visit was made by one bailiff and the maximum that the Council’s reasonable charges can be is the result of applying the formula contained in Schedule 5 paragraph 2 (1) (b) of the Regulations”

they cannot charge so many fees if only one visit is made

i have just realised that the ref number i have been paying off is only for 1 amount, the first one, so what happens to the other 3 are they willing to wait till i paid the first one off?

I will help you write a letter over the weekend to send to Jacobs and the council

if the bailiff comes back (to allegedly remove goods) don't listen to him even if he threatens you with police locksmith ETC

work out what you can afford to pay(taking into account next years council tax) it may be helpful to do an income /expenditure to send to the council

send this to Jacobs by e-mail
    From:
    My Name
    My Address

    To Jacobs

Ref: Account Nos: (list them all)

    Dear Sir

With reference to the above accounts, Can you please provide me with a breakdown of the charges.

    This includes:
a - the time & date of any Bailiff action that incurred a Fee.
b - the reason for the fee.
c - the name(s) of the Bailiff(s) that attended on each occasion a Fee was charged.
    d - the name(s) of the Court(s) the Bailiff(s) was/were certificated at.
e - the date of the Certification.

May i remind of your obligation under The National Standards for Enforcements agents 2002
Enforcement agents will on each and every occasion when a visit is made to a debtor's property which incurs a fee for the debtor, leave a notice detailing the fees charged to date, including the one for that visit, and the fees which will be incurred if further action becomes necessary. If a written request is made an itemised account of fees will be provided.

I therefore look forward to receiving the information requested within 7 days of receipt of this e-mail
A copy of this e-mail will also be sent to the revenues department of stockport council to be put on record

    yours
    Mrs xxxxxx
