Halifax Mortgage Promise.

Yesterday i went to see a mortgage advisor at halifax and was given a mortgage promise for £135000 after a credit check.

I am now hoping to try my girlfriends bank Natwest to see what they could offer but am worried that another credit check will look bad on our credit files when getting a mortgage.

Any help would be great as i hear the Halifax check is a "soft credit check".

Wouldnt it be better to see a whole of market broker who could do this shopping around and get one check sorted rather than you walking up and down the high street?

Depends on the individual but most would not charge a fee until completion, if at all

  • no go to someone who charges zero, they make a fee on the deal they get you, we saw a guy a few years ago, with only a 10% deposit and he said go to hsbc direct. he was a family friend though..

halifax didn't seem to be competitive for me, have alook on hsbc, but go see someone qualified
