visual tronic refund

we bought a projector from visual tronic at the beginning of december on a credit card. the item was not up to the standard described so we phoned and asked to return. they told us a returns number and asked us to write this on the box and also on a letter inside. (stupidly we didnt keep a copy of this) it was then returned via DHL and delivered and signed for on the 20th December.
No refund turned up over christmas so we sent them a mail with the original order number, the date,time and signatory of the guy who recieved it.
they are claiming they cant process a refund without the returns number. we have proof of delivery but they are refusing a refund until they get this number.
what can we do?
having read online there are many people with the same issue with this company, we cant really afford to get a solicitor involved but also cant afford to lose the £250 they owe us

That is a pretty poor cop out from them. They know who you are and will have all the info they need on file. Its time you now contacted the credit card company and get them involved in a section 75 chargeback. They will assist you better than any one else. Give them a call now.

STAY WELL CLEAR!!!! - I ordered a projector, spare buld, surround sound system and screen form these people with assured next day delivery. The following day I was contacted telling me they had run out of stock but did I want the extended warranty? I declined and asked when the goods would arirve -"Next week was the reply" - I called several times over the following days leaving messages and emails which were never replied to to try and get further information regarding my order for £339.99 - Eventually when I did get someone to answer I was told it would be delivered on the Friday - 5 days after order and I asked a confirmation email which they sent - Friday arrived but the goods did not. Again I rang and left messages as by now I had read forums on this company and this was proving the norm, once again non were replied to. The following Monday I managed to speak to someone and expressed my dissatisfaction as to the way this was being handled - I was told the order would arrive Tuesday, when I asked for her name she refused to give it to me and hung up!!
Tuesday arrived - No delivery for me - many calls later and now a stroppy email proved unsuccesful.
Wednesday came, along with a parcel!! They had swapped the suround sytem from the avertised model and there was no spare bulb. (these are not cheap) I have left more messages regarding this but as expected still not heard anything -

THESE PEOPLE ARE ROGUE AGENTS - DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEM.

I have now contacted my bank and the fraud department are looking into this on my behalf. It is not the course of action I wanted to take but they have left me no other choice. Please warn anybody looking for a projector to stay well away. No doubt they will start another web site in a new name shortly as I believe they have had 3 names in the last 4 months

Just to add in my twopence-worth! I strongly advise everyone DO NOT purchase anything from this company. I wish i had read all of these reviews before i purchased something from them. I ordered a projector mount which never appeared, everytime i phoned, if i was lucky enough to get through i was fobbed off with various stories such as, your item has been dispatched today, it should be with you tomorrow, your refund is being processed but will take 10 days, etc etc. My item was NEVER sent, my refund was NEVER sent. I am now about to follow this up with the credit card company to see if we can claim our money back. I cant believe companies can get away with operating like this.
Be aware - they appear to also be trading under many names such as Loudico, Right Projectors and possibly Electrostar, Planet Distributions Ltd – Spaceolar (ebay shop)
