hope everything ok with you and you're getting some rest with the holidays
  • Yes, i have been getting some rest over the hols Taxi, but it has been busy in a nice way

Unfortunately back to reality on Monday and back to budgets.:o

Checking up on main account, the joint one which is Mr.B's essentially and i don't use. He has managed to overspend by £59 and he isn't paying the mortgage or food:eek: although utilities come out of there as does his travel. I shoved the bank statement under his nose and i will let it sink in. He really needs to get to grips with this, as he has no excuse. I have been subbing him money as well for Pub quiz, and general spends this week, so he is also using my spends as well..not good and definitely needs working on.:o

So new month and new spending regime..once its gone its gone. I can see three areas he could save on already, honestly i think he is statement blind..or i am just dumb. Maybe it is a combination of the two.

So back to basics, sandwiches made for dinners and soups to be taken to cut back on incidental spends.
I agree that the pub quiz is good for him and helps him socialize, i won't be going anymore on Thursdays as my guide meeting is longer, so he only has to fund himself. I have suggested halves instead of pints and a limit of £50 entertainment money for him for the month. He also spent on birthdays this month, but only mine, as i generally sort out everyone else's..i even bought his nephew's present.
Next month is DS's, Father in Law's, mother in law's and Son in law's birthdays..so expensive. I have suggested he doesn't resort to take aways and the above measure of sandwiches should in essence even out the spends..that's the theory anyway. £50 spent on those and i only had one of them, i didn't realize he had bought others.:o Must have been when i was out.
Other areas to tackle, he needs to ring up and cancel his subscription to credit expert, i did say he had to do that after a month..but he forgot.
I will look at new utilities and see what can be done there, but they are already low.
He used to get a monthly train ticket and he has been getting a weekly one- costing more money at least £40 a month more, i honestly despair sometimes.

Likewise i to am adopting measures for saving dosh, i have a fixed budget for petrol, but i have to put money aside for MOT and Tax at the end of next month..never ending eh?

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

  • I replaced all my tyres in September, it actually worked out cheaper to get 4 than just the three. Two definitely needed replacing and one was getting there. Try a few places for a quote.

And why would you need just the 3... ;)

Instead of Trotter's Independent Trading along the side you could have Bob's One Off Bakery ! :D
