I'd like to make a sausage dog draught excluder

Hiya,

I can't find a pattern anywhere on the net for a sausage dog draught excluder. I'd like to make one to give as a Christmas present so I need something more than a stuffed sock. Does anyone know of a site with instructions on?

Thanks xx

  • Awwww, that takes me back!
My nanna used to make these when i was a little girl, would then let my brother and me decorate them with googly eyes and a smiley face.

Would keep us occupied for ages.
Cant remember though if she did make them out of old socks or not and i cant ask her as she passed away 13 years ago.

Dont ya just love googly eyes?? LOL

Jeans would be good the tightly woven fabric will help keep out the draft.:D

  • I made one for me a few years ago from a pair of old jeans. I made an improvement on the standard design though. I sewed a channel down the middle before I stuffed it (with 1/2 a poundland pillow), so it can be slid onto the bottom of the door - & tadaa! no more having to keep kicking it into place coz it's already there!:j

I think there was talk about making them over on the OS board . They mentioned having them fixed to the bottom of a door so that you could open and close the door without picking up the sausage dog.

What about this, its a reindeer but could easily be made into a dog.

I made it last year for my mother and after christmas I swapped the antlers for ears.
