Just wanted to have a moan really!
I was made redundant on Friday 13th October. I'll reserve judgement on pinhead boss(!). I was in town today (yes, I spent more than I should have) and had to bear the unmistakable warbling of Noddy Holder blasting out. I'm getting seriously worried about the impending festivities. I'm being paid by my previous employer until mid December and there is no decent job looming in the distance. What am I going to do? OH wants some new golf shoes for Xmas. I remember last Christmas I was broke and stupidly bought ALL pressies from the Next Directory to try and defer paying for them for a bit, I paid it all off months ago but I'm worried I'll end up doing the same again this time. I don't have a credit card as they scare me - too easy.
Any ideas, apart from investing in a red light bulb?! x

Why dont you and your other half agree just to give each other a small gift this year or maybe just a 'treat' to each other!
Do the people that you buy gifts for know what has happened, maybe if you explained the situation they would understand??WIN £2008 in 2008 £1836.31 2009 wins - £91!!! 2010 wins in Oz $ 6170.... wins 2011 aprox $2000

Don't be, I have spent literally hundreds of pounds in previous years on presents. This year I have managed to put away £20 a month towards Christmas and am cutting down on who we buy for. I felt terrible about it and even more so when step daughter asked for a present that was £80 and we cannot afford it. So hubby expalined that things were tight but would give her some money towards it - and if she gets money from other people she will probably get it cheaper in the sales.
I also think that a lot more thought will go into things this year as well......
KIf you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T
I'm not short - I'm condensed awesome!

Use Quidco for the car insurance. I went with Prudential which was about £10 cheaper than my existing one BUT I got £100 back as well. Def worth looking at.WIN £2008 in 2008 £1836.31 2009 wins - £91!!! 2010 wins in Oz $ 6170.... wins 2011 aprox $2000

Not sure if you have done a Statement of Affairs before, but if you look at southernscousers sticky at the top of the page this will give you pointers. Are you in debt at the moment? Have you told any creditors your situation so they are kept in the loop.
I know this is silly, but does your OH know that you have been made redundant? Because it would seem to be a little insensitive to STILL want the golf shoes if he does know.
Is there anything you can sell on ebay or Amazon to raise some money?
Can you do a Christmas temp job whilst you are trying to find something else just to keep some money coming.
I just thought you may not have thought of some of these things, as you might still be in shock from losing your job
best of luck
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
