Virgin Mobile Coverage

Hi, Virgin mobile have offered me a mobile phone deal which sounds pretty good but I'm just wondering if anyone knows what their coverage is around N Ireland. I live in Belfast but can spend the odd weekend in the Tyrone area and with previous providers I have found reception to be patchy. Just dont want to be signing up to something thats going to drive me mad in the future. Would really appreciate if anyone has any experience of Virgin coverage.
Thanks
Thanks

I was with them a couple of years ago (ok more like 4).
They were on t-mobile and the coverage was the poorest Ive ever seen in NI. Poor reception outside of Belfast and by outside I mean newtownabbey, carrick, bangor etc.
They may have improved with the deal with orange to share networks but for a similar price you might be better off with Tesco who are on O2 (one of the best phone networks but poor for data).0 -
It is absolutely abysmal----work in Belfast and can't get a signal to ring out or get calls in----unfortunately tied to a contract and they won't let me out.:mad:0

I had a contract with them last year and had to cancel it (under their 30 day guarantee) as the signal was virtually non-existent unless I was outside my property (Lisburn) or in the centre of Belfast.
beofre cancelling the contract I asked them if the deal between T-Mobile (their carrier) and Orange would make a difference and they couldnt categorically state that it would.
Without me knowing my sister took out a contract with them recently and has exactly the same problems. She didnt sort it in time and now is going to get an O2 sim just so she can receive callsThe Daily Mail

Harry4444, I would pester their head office/CEO by post/email until they came up with a solution. If you cannot make/receive calls, which after all is what a mobile is for, then they are not providing the service you are paying them forThe Daily Mail

Thanks for the feedback - guess I'll stick with O2 for now.0

Thanks eveyone...won't even got there, I thought Orange were bad, but with my new 4G phone things seemed to improve. They just don't seem to do a cheap sim only deal with internet access.

Have to say I've been with Virgin for about 4 years and no real problems with reception. I live and work in belfast and I have at least 8 family members on Virgin due to the unlimited virgin to virgin deal they give and we would all recommend them!
My deal is great - not sure of the details of yours but I get 800 minutes-any network anytime, unlimited texts,1GB internet download and unlimited virgin to virgin calls for £10.22 per month!! Sim only and can be cancelled at any time.
Some added benefits are included if you are an NTL customer - I got this deal when I phoned to cancel mine as I had seen the TESCO sim only deal of 500 mins and unlimited texts for £10p/m and they offerred me this straightaway. Worth asking them about the best deal!
PS - also never have any problem when abroad!! It can go to emergancy calls quite often but this normally only lasts at most a minute and then service resumed.0 -
Well, I phoned them about the Tesco deal (a few months ago) and they wouldn't budge. I moved all 5 of my family to Tesco/02. Great deal, good customer service (which I also found to be poor with Virgin) and excellent coverage.0
