Trouble splitting a joint mortgage

I am currently having trouble with my ex partner, we were together for a long period of time and in that period we brought two properties, one was a house and the other a holiday home. The house we brought with a large mortgage and the holiday home was brought with a loan against the mortgage.
After splitting up we rented out both properties and the mortgage was paying itself, however over the past 6-12 months he has stopped paying his half of the mortgage but has been pocketing the rent. About 6 months ago he even went into the bank and cancelled our joint bank account from which the rent used to be paid and then would be directed to pay the mortgage each month which has lead to me having to pay my half of the mortgage from my own earnings and not from the rent. I was doing this as I didn't wish for anymore trouble from him.
At the same time he also sold the holiday home for a much reduced fee without my signature so there is now no income from this towards the mortgage. I wish to sort this matter out however he always refuses to sign anything nor speak to the bank or the mortgage company as he just ignores their communications so they are always hounding me for answers about his actions. I have even said I would sign the house over to him for free to get my name off the mortgage and I wish no longer to have this tie with him as he is abusive and aggresive towards me and my family.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can arrange for our mortgage deal to be split in two so that I can move on as I am at a loose end and the stress is crippling my life at present?
Please post any ideas that you may have heard of or even used yourselves to deal with such a situation in the past...

added to this is the fact that we have had the house on the market for sale for a year and weve had no offers. I fear even if there is an offer that he will refuse to sign it away as it is the last link between us and he is controlling me by using this as leverage.0
