Red Pepper Houmous

Does anyone have a recipe for this? I don't like the plain one but had the red pepper one at a party on new years eve and really enjoyed it. I'd make it without the oil as I'm dieting!!

  • Just found this recipe online, I'd like to make my own houmous at some point. :) Instead of the peppers they suggest, you could roast some red peppers and remove the skin and use those I should think.

    400g/14oz canned chickpeas, rinsed and drained
    4 garlic cloves
    50g/2oz tahini paste
    3 lemons, juice only
    100g/3½oz Peppadew peppers or sweet pickled chilli peppers from a jar
    extra virgin olive oil, to taste
    salt and freshly ground black pepper

    Place all of the ingredients, except the oil, into a food processor and blend until smooth. With the food processor motor running, add a steady stream of oil, to loosen the mixture, until at the consistency of your choice.

    You could make it without the oil, or just use a small amount, you need good fats in your diet anyway. :)
