I have been with Kiva for nearly two years and have made 77 loans, repayments being recycled into new loans. In that time I have had no defaults (touch wood). I try to pick loans that are offered through microfinanciers that charge the lower end of the interest rates and prefer to finance loans to women. This month I have started supporting lendwithcare, which is allied to the Cooperative Bank. Loans are in multiples of £15, about $25, but interest charges on the loans appear to be lower than through Kiva. Both organisations need additional donations direct to the charity to support and develop their work but as a UK citizen any donation I make to Lendwithcare is subject to Gift aid, whereas only US citizens can offset tax on their donations to Kiva. I would recommend either charity. And what an excellent opportunity to involve all of the family, building up your portfolio with small regular amounts and involving the kids in the choice of who to lend to, after studying the locations on the internet.0

Thanks for that deanevans, I have been using lenwithcare for a while now and am very happy with how it's going, no defaults and love the fact that the same £15 can be used to help lots of people, I have seen kiva and was tempted but lendwithcare won out for me because of uk base and parent charity.
I would reccomend everyone to consider loaning money this way instead of traditional donations0 -
Good timing chaps! I have just one payment outstanding on my original Kiva loan, all should be repaid next month, in time for me to loan out again. I haven't made any others, but have given some as gifts. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
