How many dinner place settings should I buy

I am in the same position and have bought 12 settings (3 sets) in the past as we tend to break things regularly as floor of kitchen is quarry tiled and totally unforgiving. This should keep you going for a long time.0

You won't go wrong with 4 sets, whilst 3 would probably be fine, you'd kick yourself if an occasion arose and you needed extra.0

Just managed to get some extra mugs today from T J Hughes. They had a 3 for 2 offer on everything in store and as we have Denby crockery and they had seconds in stock, I couldn't resist, especially as they were about half the original price.0

Decided on four sets and they arrived safely yesterday and I am really pleased with them. It is the Denby Intro range from Argos in Sand reduced from £39.99 to £19.99 and they has just 4 sets left in stock for home delivery. Looks like a really nice everyday set and a great price. Now just a case of unpacking, washing them and packing up all the old stuff for the charity shop.0 -
Just make sure you have enough cutlery as well. We always run out of that first! Mummy to an amazing little girl

I've just bought 6 sets of 4 place settings. Only 2 of us in the house but we entertain a lot

i'd prob buy 4 set's. were a family of 5, soon to be 6. but we like to have family around alot. Also if a plate breaks it not a huge prob. i'd prefer to buy more than i need than buy it and wish i'd bought another set.0

Did the cutlery last year - managed to get some nice cutlery in Tesco which was on sale with 50% off and also it was double clubcard so I got 5 sets which would have been £24.00 per set for £60.00 in total and paid with £30.00 clubcard vouchers!! One of my better bargains. It was nice to dispose of all the odd bits of cutlery sets I had collected over the years.GarnetLady wrote: »Just make sure you have enough cutlery as well.
