I'm being an elf for a child through postpals this year; I don't have any children, or even relatives with small children, so I get to buy some gifts for a little cutie! I'm so looking forward to it. :j
You can also volunteer to be a reindeer; by sending 9 cards to a child (as though they were from the reindeer).0 -
I have signed up to be a reindeer as well and as an elf for 2 kids. I am the same don't have kids or any small one to buy for so am excited about picking.Yearly Grocery Budget - £100.77/ £3500. January Treats Budget - £11.80 / £100.0

Received the following email from postpals today :
Hello, Post Pals (an organisation brightening the lives of seriously ill children) is looking for volunteers again this year to make the Christmas of a child fighting a serious illness or their sibling.
There are 3 ways to help
1)Elf scheme. Volunteers are assigned a child and they gather up gifts to the value of £15 and send them off in early December. Some pictures of previous children with elf parcels can be seen here
2)Reindeer scheme. Volunteers are assigned a young child and during December they send 9 cards, one from each of Santa's reindeer talking from the reindeers perspective, ie getting ready for the big night, the sleigh getting full, its snowing at the North Pole at the moment etc
3)By sending Christmas cards, and if you would like a little gift too. Just log onto www.postpals.co.uk and follow the "5 easy steps to make a sick child smile" on the home page.
Until now I've organised the schemes myself but got over whelmed by work last year so now have 2 volunteers helping. If you would like to be an Elf please email Lorna on lornarogers@hotmail.com and if you would like to be a reindeer please email Maria on maria.carney@tiscali.co.uk stating how many children you would like to be assigned to.
There is more information on our News page (see entry dated 22/10/08)
This year is bigger we are helping more children than ever and we need over 240 elves, so please pass this onto friends, family, or on any blogs/forums/websites etc
Thank you!
Vikki
