Wonga, Is this allowed?

I took out a Wonga loan in November 2010, and soon after lost my job. I have now been forced to rely on Jobseeker's Allowance, a situation I am struggling with.

When the time came I wasn't able to repay my loan, so managed to extend it. However, the new payment date cam and went, and I wasn't able to pay it.

Today, I checked my bank account to find that Wonga had removed £99.88 with absolutely no warning. I now face massive bank charges, and have no money to survive for the next couple of weeks. Are they allowed to do this? Can I do anything about it?

Yes they can, it is in your terms and conditions, and you have no chance of getting it back. If you are still due them money then next time any money appears in your bank they will take it, they are constantly tring to take money from your account. Only thing you can do now is close that account and open a new one with a different bank so they can't grab your money. Then you need to start trying to get it sorted out.

This takes a lot of people by surprise (lots of posts here on the same subject), but it will be in your terms and conditions. These payday loan companies lend to risky clients who often can't get credit anywhere else, so they tend to be quite aggressive if you default and will clear out your bank account if they need to get their money back.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

Yes they can, and they'll keep cleaning out your account until they get all their cash back....I'm not kidding.

Get your benefits paid elsewhere and then you're in control again.

Do people not usually get a final pay day after finding out their job is going?

Sounds like the sort of thing to repay a "pay day" loan with.

Whilst they are known to do it, I didn't think they could leave someone without any money at all.

How do they know what money someone has? Maybe if the person contacts them and explains the situation then some of it would be refunded.
My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.

As a general rule of thumb, when you borrow money you have to pay it back.....

Never been there myself but from what I've read on here over the last year, they'll clean you out, tell you to get stuffed on the phone and then do it again.

Just type payday into the search.

They lend to the lowest so they use the lowest tactics to get back their cash and more.
