Thanks RAS, will I be able to ask for that over the phone or do I need to write a letter asking for it?

    Thanks

You need to send a letter asking for all of the information that ACE hold on this account, you will be sent a whole load of paperwork but included within it should be the amounts that your Aunty has paid and the dates that the payments were made. Any interest and charges will be shown too.
You will need to send a cheque or postal order for £10. There is a very good template letter on here....

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553

Just amend it to show your Aunty's details and delete any parts that aren't relevant (credit card)

As it says in the post, you have to allow them up to 40 days to process this request (although I got mine from MBNA in around 3 weeks.) Make sure that you send the letter by recorded delivery so that someone has to sign for it. Don't send it to a PO box address or to anywhere that takes payments, it may be in a completely different office in another part of the country. I found this on the "Debt Line" website...

    Registered Address
    C/O Express Gifts Ltd
    Church Bridge House Henry Street
    Church
    Accrington
    Lancashire
    BB5 4EH

    Reg Company Number
    718151
    Parent Company
    Express Gifts Limited
    Consumer Credit Licence
    348351
    Website
    https://www.24ace.co.uk

    Good luck!

ps, DO NOT let your Aunty sign any letters to ACE, just print her name at the bottom. If they write requesting a signature, let us know, ok?

Well I spoke to Ace last Friday and the girl was really rude. She wouldnt freeze the account and wouldnt do a payment plan :( I have found out my aunty is paying PPI on the account. She is a pensioner and didnt even know it was on the account. So we've filled in the form and going to send it to the address Barbie Doll gave. Is this the right address to send it too?

I have found out it has been £100 every month she has paid since the account was opened so thats more than £6000! for 2 jackets and a bike. I cant believe it. She has missed a few payments but thought she was doing good paying double the next month. She has kept this quiet until recently as shes a proud woman but now shes really worrying and I feel really sorry for her.

I have requested a statement which they are sending out in the post, so as soon I have that, I will post back and ask for more advice.

Thanks for all the advice so far. It a huge help and really appreciated

Will it be ok if she signs the PPI claim form?

    Thanks

  • Personally, I would send send in a formal SAR requesting the full details of the account, including all charges accrued and applied, plus payments recevied etc.

Then I would send the entire thing to the financial ombudsman and request that ACE be investigated for unfair practices. That is obscene and ridicuolus.

Well I got the statments through and have looked them over. There was PPI on the account totalling £805.21! as they add it on every month and dont do it as a one off payment. My cousin tried to help her back in 2007 and cancelled the PPI but my aunty never knew it was on the account and didnt know about mis selling and reclaiming so im doing that now for her. She thought that PPI was what was added to catalogue accounts and never questioned it, but she definately knows it wasnt explained to her or that it was optional.

I have tried to reclaim back the PPI but they have written back today saying no as she would have agreed to it over the phone and send out a contract for her to sign but.........she never got a contract sent out as she is 100% sure she never signed anything.

I called them up and they said as it was 2002 they wouldnt have a recording of the telephone conversation and that they dont have the contract she supposidly signed??

So where do I go from here? I am trying to claim back her charges too as they are about £800! My poor aunty thought that if you missed a payment you just paid double the next month and everything would be fine.

I really feel so sorry for her as shes struggling and having just been diagnosed and with loads of hospital appointments its as if she can never make ends meet.

Any advice would be greatly appreicated.

I echo this, give fos a ring and they will log your complaints and send you the forms to fill in, enclose all paperwork (copies)of all corrospondence recieved from ace and let the fos deal with this, put everything down that you have put on here, stress the fact this is a elderly lady and does not fully understand how ace work.

Thank you, I will be calling them when I get to her house. Just totalled up how much she has paid from her statements..........................................£5805.16!!!:eek::eek::eek:

I cant believe them. Im so angry, I really hope the FOS kick there a**e.

Most of the charges are for being a few days late!!!! I really am gobsmacked and kind of annoyed that she never let on sooner but hey ho whats done is done, hopefully I will get this sorted for her by speaking to the FOS.
