it seems tough going at first, as chickpeas are quite solid, but make sure you add some olive oil or other liquid to loosen it up and it has always worked for me.
Let me know if you need a recipe.Car £1500
Parents £5000
Barclaycard £900.68
+ 127,000 Mortgage
all on my lonesome0 -
my blender came with a sort of beaker, which is deep and narrow. I use this, and go slow and steady. Come to think of it I also generally drape a tea towel over the top of the beaker - to stop the pebbledash effect you get otherwise.
Generally I use - tin chick peas, spoonful of tahini, couple garlic cloves, olive oil, lemon juice salt and pepper. If i have some I add a bit of yoghurt or fromage frais, or even a little bit of milk, to make the mix lighter. You can also add a bit of cumin if you like.
It always goes down a treat when I make it for people.
But you do really need the tea towel - I forgot all about that!0 -
Definately for soup! I also use it to make smoothies. Put the juice/milk and fruit in a jug, and blitz. Delicious, and a quarter of the price of a smoothie maker!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

SPC2 #571 - trying to get as much as possible0 -
when I want to thicken gravy for my stews that I do in the SC, I ladle some of the thin gravy out, wack a couple of big spoonfuls of plain flour in a jug with it and give it a blitz then add back to the SC, makes the gravy lovely & rich
Use it for a easy leek & pot soup - leeks , potaotes, stock onions, tsp dried herbs, sauted for 20 mins, then blitzed
rasperry or strawb sauce for pancakes / icecream - put punnet in jug, blitz, adn then strain with a sieve to remove seeds
hoummous as others have said
blitz tinned toms for pasta sauice base/ bolognaise etc
Its paid for itself, Ive go a tesco fiver one as well :beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I have one like Gryfon but not the ice crusher bit and I use it for everything - whipping cream - mashing turnips and carrots together, soup, chopping parsley for soup etc - would not now be without itSaving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j0

i too have the £5 one
my son got the blending bit wet inside !!! grrr
it was in the sink standing up and he poured leftover drink in the sink
im sure i remember reading in the booklet that came with it,that you cant use it if its gotten wet inside ??!!!
does anyone know or did i dream that ? lol0 -
I loathe eating breakfast, and my OH nags me to death if I don't, so we've reached a compromise. I take a smoothy to work. Seems they also count for some of your 5-a-day (some controvosity over whether they can count for more than one, but every little helps)
On a night I put a cut up banana, some other fruit (has been frozen raspberries, fruits of the forest, tinned pineapple. whatever) in the beaker with some apple juice and blitz. I pour it into an old spring water bottle and pop in fridge. Liquid breakfast to take to work!
A work of caution though, raspberry and frozen fruit one's need to be seived or you spend more time spitting out pips!!!!0
