Nationwide and Tax Credits

Just thought I would mention, I popped into the Nationwide yesterday to transfer some funds to pay a bit off my Halifax mortgage. The cashier asked if I had considered a mortgage with them and I told her that 18 months ago when I took mine out, they wouldn't have me because a large part of my income was from tax credits.
Anyway she checked if that was still the case and informed me that they do now accept tax credits as income.
At the time, Nationwide and Woolwich said no but Northern Rock and Halifax said yes. In fact, Halifax would have lent me more than I needed as I had such a fab credit rating!
Thought this might help anyone looking for a new mortgage.

Although I would suggest that relying on tax credits to fund a mortgage may not be wise.
Just because some lenders will accept them doesn't mean that borrowers should take on more than they could afford if tax credits were reduced or withdrawn.0
