Joint Mortgage, one with bad credit

Hi,
My partner and I (unmarried) are looking to buy a house together. We are both first time buyers. The issue we have is that whilst I have a very good credit rating, she has a very poor one. (Several defaults on her account, which should be satisfied in a month or so)
I earn considerably more than her, however she expects to recieve a substantial sum soon that we plan to use as a 10% deposit on a house.
Will her poor credit history prevent us from getting a good mortgage even though I earn approx 3x (gross) her salary?
If I get the mortgage only in my name is there any kind of legal arragement that we could draw up to protect us in the event that we split up? She's understandably nervous that if we did split up I could effectively stiff her out of the contributions she's made to the house (both deposit and repayments)

The only way will be everything in your name. The lender will want proof of deposit usualy in the form of a letter from parents saying it's a gift - people bring me letters but of course we have no way of knowing who actualy wrote and signed it and lenders do not ask for proof of signature against the providers passport so it's a chance lenders take really.
Your gf would need a separate legal document jointly signed using a lawyer other than that you use to buy the property.0
