Sorry to hear that. Can't understand that mentality to be honest. Also perplexes me a bit when people say 'You're really good having the girls every weekend' as I am their dad after all. Thank you for the support though.

Hi Bruirn, try not to take the loan out if you can help it. The people on here are great and will support you making changes to your budget. I've gone from spending £20 in M&S on a few ready meals and a bottle of wine without even thinking about it to Tesco value range for a lot of items (and how I wish we had a Lidl's near here). Good luck and you sound like a fab dad :D

Hi there. There's certainly a great deal of inspiration to be had on here. Wish I had found it sooner. I'm definitely not now going to go down the loan route hopefully. Many thanks again and all the best.
  • I have just moved my overdrafts onto a credit card with a 12 month 0% interest on purchases. I followed Martins article about how to choose the best card. I then left all my wages in my accounts and did all the spending I could on the credit card. Over two months I moved my debt onto this credit card by buying everything I could with it and leaving my bank accounts alone. I am now of course focusing on paying off my credit card, but at least it is interest free until Aug 2007 so will be saving me some money. Could you do something like this?

Hope this makes sense - I am a bit new to all thie DFW stuff as well!

That made perfect sense ta and sounds good. What's the interest rate after 12 months? Will you then just pay off the credit card with your overdrafts again having saved a bit from not having to pay interest? Who is the credit card with? I've never had one before.

Hi, i keep adding to different quotes asking how did people do that and now i'm lost and cant find the original quotes ! Not good on computers. I would like to move our o.d. to a credit card but dont know how? Please help. thanks ali.
  • If I have not paid off my credit card by the end of the 0% interest time I plan on switching to another until I do. Then it will be the best deal on balance transfers! I am not sure what the % rate will be then.
There is a way to do a direct transfer of an overdraft to a credit card, but it seemed a bit complicated to do so I went for the easier route. Martins article on choosing the best credit card does give you every bit of info you need. I ended up with a GE card that had a 0% interest free for a year deal, and Martin also mentioned a Sainsburys one with 9 months 0% interest. One note of caution - now I have got my overdrafts moved across I have stopped carrying and using that card - otherwise the temptation to just use it one more time would be too great!

Because the house is in mine and my ex's name so I have to pay half.
