I heard 2012, getting a bit ridiculous now either way - been about 2 years already hasn't it? :(

It got delayed the tax man.. erm I mean Edinburgh City Council wouldn't let the work start properly until they payed the "Tram tax".

There's a Primark in Dunfermline and they opened one up in Perth not that long ago (just for an FYI)
:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!
  • As above, late 2011 seems the likely date for new store.

I joined a forum a while back to get information on when Primark was coming to Edinburgh and this was the final update I received:

The historic and cultural importance of the location meant it was essential we consulted as widely as possible, to give a voice to our customers and the people of the City, while helping the planning authorities to gauge public reaction.

As you know, the store was granted planning permission in August and work on the Princes Street site is now well underway.

When we created this site, called Have Your Say, we were not sure how many people would take up the opportunity to leave their comments. We're delighted that more than 10,000 of you joined the site to contribute to the discussion. All of us at Primark are grateful for that.

We look forward to welcoming you to the flagship Edinburgh store when it opens in late 2011.

You can now find information about Primark- including recruitment information- at our main website: https://www.primark.co.uk

I expect the consultations, planning permission etc would have a fair amount of objections from other big stores nearby. I heard that when the Livingston Centre was being built, M&S said that they would pull out if a Primark was scheduled to open!

I'm glad Primark is coming as I don't really know of any big budget clothing shops in Edinburgh city centre.

This time next year we'll all be wearing the same stuff!

spoke to a builder on the site yesterday. He said they've been told it has to be ready for december. looked like windows were going in at the back.

apparently the new one in livingston will be the 2nd largest in the uk.

When Primark opened in London ,some people forgot it would be open for more than one day and queued around the block to get in .It will still be there next week .
Also remember Primark is cheap but you dont want to dress like your neighbours .
If you want clothes that will last until a second wash ,well maybe Primark is not for you .

as long as you follow washing instructions, there shouild be no problem with the result of your clean clothes that you purchased from your primark store
