Is it just me??
I was over the moon and hyper with ideas when OH proposed in October.
But now its the new year and officially the start of our savings plan and get ideas sorted out, I seem to have developed an anti-weddings attitude!!
I had a million ideas, from my outdoor wedding looking over a waterfall, to getting married in our local 1930s art deco cinema, and afternoon tea partys and champagne/cupcake/cocktails receptions....
but now.... I just really can't find anything that is making me feel all giddy again!
I think the reality of having to pay and budget is putting me off
Honestly now, I just want to go the local registry office and get it over and done with, with no fuss, no dress, flowers, kilts, photographers, favours......
OH is none to impressed with my new paired down idea, he wants nice photographs taken and wants our kiddies to be wearing pretty princess dresses and kilts (girl and boys respectively, not other way round lol)...
Sorry, I know this is probably the last place but no-one is impressed really with my nwe plan and I was just looking for somewhere to have my wee grumble.
I'm sure this will pass and I'll be filling my watch list on Ebay with table scatter diamonds, and pink ribbons again but just for now, I appear to have been taken over by The Scrooge of the Wedding world

Hi,
Didn't want to 'read and run' are you bored or a bit overwhelmed ?
We are having a very small wedding in Florida in April , I have got most of it planned in my head ! I never stop thinking about it . I carn't imagine what I would be like if I had to sort reception venues , menus for 100's of people, dresses etc, etc,
Perhaps you are putting to much pressure on yourself.
I am sure someone will be along anytime that knows the right advice:)0 -
I went through the exact same thing a few months after we got engaged. It did soon pass though. In fact, I still go through phases now. One week I can be really excited, the next, I'll be a bit "meh"Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0

I think indecisive rather than bored.
Also, I don't want to feel like I am settling for a wedding. I had my heart set on getting married in a folly overlooking a waterfall, in an National Trust of Scotland park. But I didn't realise it would cost so much tho. Then all my other ideas of getting my guests taken up there by a vintage bus, then a lovely afternoon tea somewhere quirky..... it all adds up!
And I would rather have a tiny little intimate wedding, and use the saved money for the deposit for our new home. (which also seems to be taking forever to save for! but thats a whole other story lol):heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpulsPrincesses wear crowns to remind them that they are beautiful and special because some days its easy to forget. :heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpuls0 -

im getting increasingly fed up with thinking ive spent far too much on the venue so am having to cut back in other areas and do the rest on a really tight budget, but it will pass once the day comes round and everything is paid for, only just over 600 to go
it was what i wanted at the start and if i dont do it this way ill probably regret it!
its my month to start the serious savings too, ive only got little bits in the pot so far because of xmasI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
Hi,
I know the feeling - it came for me in the new year too - about halfway through making all 250 of those darn favours (why oh why did I decide to tie every one with a bit of ribbon )
Best things I did were scrap-book, timetable and budget. :T
I found that I had so many ideas and things I liked but needed some way of organising them and also to give myself deadlines to force myself into getting things done! It also helped to set this alongside a budget so I knew how much I needed to save and by when. :money:
By the time it came to working out how I wanted my hair or what I wanted the bridesmaids to wear I had quite a few pictures to choose from, similarly I'd collected loads of ideas for favours, room decorations etc.
Now it's all over I love going back to that scrap book, it has got everything in it - speeches, order of service, clippings from magazines, memories of our wedding day.
Hope that helps! :j

Happily wed for 7 months and grateful for all the advice!0 -
I can understand the MEH!! too love I was up the other night I couldn't sleep and had the brochure for the place we're thinking of getting married at beside my bed with a pukka pad and worked out what sort of menu we want ect ect and worked out the price and I thought to myself do they need this amount of food it was coming out at 8000 just for the venue with no flowers nothing just the food and ceremony.
I wouldn't mind so much but we're only having a maximum of 60 people. I'm sure we'll work something out.
Maybe buy one of the wedding magazine perfect wedding or wedding ideas are quite good ones. They have loads of ideas and low costs too

Ooh scrap booking.... love that idea. I've been saving things in my inbox in my email, or "liking" things on Facebook.
Have found the most gorgeous wedding photographer, and one of her weddings is right up my street -

I really like the idea of the cinema - have looked into our local cinema, but OH is not convinced at all. Think its time to hit the magazines again tho, thanks Steph. I'm just needing a kick in the right direction.:heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpulsPrincesses wear crowns to remind them that they are beautiful and special because some days its easy to forget. :heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpuls0 -
In the early stages of our planning, OH and I both did a separate scrapbook and we swapped books once we'd got the basics down. We then compared what each of us wanted from the day. Although it seemed like we were miles apart, on paper there was actually a lot of common ground.Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0

I think it's normal to have a "MEH" moment, especially if your ideal wedding is difficult to achieve.
I certainly had a lul after we booked our venue last year. Luckily though we bought a home, so that was quite a distraction for a few months. Then, once we were settled, we got back on the planning wagon. Now, we have quite a bit to do, so we have more of a focus0
