Nearly there - wireless prob - help please!

I have a Linksys adapter in my laptop and had a problem getting it to communicate with new Virginmedia router (wireless enabled) that had been fitted at home.

After much too-ing and fro-ing yesterday we have made progress - the laptop is now "communicating" with the virgin router - yipee! :T

BUT it is fluctuating with the internet connection (wireless adapter). It tries to connect to the internet - successfully does so... but only for about 5-10 seconds and then loses the connection. Then about
5-10 seconds later it tries again and is successful but then loses connection. Seems to be stuck in a loop on this one. :(

I feel that we are definitely making progress - but although I can literally smell the success here - it is beyond my son (who has had the patience of a saint I may add) to get it sorted.

Any advice gratefully received.

Tried simply switching everything off, then switch on router then the computer?

Didn't work. Connection still connecting and disconnecting alternately.

    Driving me bonkers.

Add the Mac address of your network card to the list in wireless station access list and turn access on to see if it keeps the connection up, ahhhh just had a thought change the channel frequency before you do that as you may be suffering interference from other routers in the area.
