in Cutting tax
Hi All,
I have a house that I let out, it's been let out since mid January of 2010 and is still let out at present.
When completing my tax returns to be completed by January 31st what period to I need to pay for?
Finally I had some pretty large bills in November and December of 2009 such as mortgage setup fees etc can some of this be offset against tax and can some of it be used for the next tax period (that has to be completed by January 31st 2012?)

On the 09/10 tax return you will need to declare all income from the rental between mid Jan 2010 and 5th April 2010. Anythin after 6th April 2010 will then go on next years return .The loopy one has gone :j0 -
Thanks - that's brilliant.
Between mid January and April 05th I took in £945 of rent, however my expense with insurance, mortgage setup fees and Estate Agency letting fees came to £1600, can the surplus of these expenses (£655) be included within the following years tax returns as an expense?
Thanks again.0 -
Oh , im not too sure about that ?
Hold off for someone else to answer this question for you .The loopy one has gone :j0
