re mortgage

we have 11 years left on our mortgage and have enquired about re mortgaging to do some home improvements. Four years ago I defaulted on a personal loan due to changes in household income but I settled the outstanding balance very quickly, my credit score is 900.
Our lender has suggested taking my name off the morgage, as they are willing to lend to my husband as he has an excellent score.
Is that the only solution?

Well, may be your current lender is not happy with your default. But you can try other lenders and see what they have to say.

If you can borrow enough on your husbands earnings why worry, remortgage in his name.

My name is linked to my husband as we are both named on the mortgage, could my husband start on his own or does this create a problem?

If your husband earns enough is his own right then taking your name off the mortgage Should ! do no harm.
The property is 50/50 in the eyes of a court if your marriage went south.
