Remortgaging question

Hi,

I want to remortgage the house.

I am buying my ex-girlfriend out of her half of the house also and this will be done seperately to the remortgaging(I don't need extra finiance).

Want I want to know is:

1) Can I remortgage the house by myself while the house is still in both our names?

2) Do I need a solicitor to change the name on the deeds or can I do this myself?

Thanks in advance

    1) No chance. You need her agreement.
    2) Yes, you need a solicitor.

You can arrange for remortgage and transfer of ownership to take place simultaneously though.

As above, the transfer of equity will be done by your solicitor at the same time as the remortgage.
