Remortgaging question

Hi,
I want to remortgage the house.
I am buying my ex-girlfriend out of her half of the house also and this will be done seperately to the remortgaging(I don't need extra finiance).
Want I want to know is:
1) Can I remortgage the house by myself while the house is still in both our names?
2) Do I need a solicitor to change the name on the deeds or can I do this myself?
Thanks in advance

1) No chance. You need her agreement.
2) Yes, you need a solicitor.
You can arrange for remortgage and transfer of ownership to take place simultaneously though.0 -
As above, the transfer of equity will be done by your solicitor at the same time as the remortgage.0
