Bad skin... All of a sudden.

Options
I always had great skin until I went on my contraceptive. But even then I could keep it at bay.

For the past few months i've noticed that it's worse than ever. I have sensitive skin and it looks as though my pores are blocked, because it's not actually red spots or heads. Its like bumps under the skin. You can only see them under the light, but they are annoying:p!

It seems as though it all started when I started to have a skin care regime. I need to get red of the blocked pores... So I started washing my face every night but it made it very sore. Even though it's designed for sensitive skin.

It helps if I moisturise after, but I don't know if I should put the moisturiser on the t-zone incase I break out. But then I don't know if not moisturing is causing the bumps?

My cheeks are a lot better after I moisturise, it's just that my forehead is getting worse now and I'm not quite sure how to treat it. Any advice? :(

What products are you using? I treated my skin for acne for years and it just got worse and worse. I then had a Clinique consultation and was recommended their extra mild range. I was sceptical but within a few weeks my skin was clear - in my case 'acne' was actually extreme sensitivity.
  • I try not to use many products as I know they can irritate faithcecila :(. I heard the oil cleansing method was good. Has anybody tried it?

Have you tried seeing a dermatologist? They can tell you whats going on with your skin, if you are congested or if its to do with a reaction to a product.

I have problems with many man-made products, things like mineral oil, lanolin oil, and then a few natural ones (rose oil, coconut oil) so it could really be about finding what works for you. I find that I have to use a product for at least 10 days in a row to see how it turns out and its always worth noting that skin can change- I used to be OK with certain products and now I am not. I think this is just down to my skin changing rather then products changing although who knows!

I would advise seeing if you can find a dermalogica counter (available at most beauty salons) as they do seem very professional but no doubt there are many others out there- try to go by word of mouth as its not always easy to find someone who knows their stuff properly!

When I have had a reaction to certain products I find the best thing to do is to simply cut them out. Extra exfoliation I think could irritate my skin further as its likely to be under stress from whatever I put on it in the first place. I generally have to wait a week for things to calm down and about 2 weeks for everything to go, I tend to get horrible painful spots- the type that are so deep you can't even squeeze them! They generally leave a small red mark/scar and take a few months to vanish, so it may be you do resolve the problem but your skin shows no real difference for a few days or even for a few weeks.

Any rashes, swelling or itchiness and see your doctor, it could be an allergic reaction.
