Part time jobs with the 2011 Census

I've just applied for a Census Collector role with the 2011 Census as looking for the extra work to pay off my debts. I sent my application in through the census jobs web site, which was really easy.

Hopefully will hear back soon. Any tips from anyone? The work looks good and not bad pay either so hope to get the job!

They say 75 hours for £750 - It could work out to be a lot more. OK money and probably some good exercise to be had :)

if your application form is accepted you will need to complete three scenarios, each lasting an hour.

Just filled mine in- was also thinking of the exercise!

    What sort of scenarios?
  • I did the last census - wouldn't do it if I lived near an 'inner city area!'
They don't like you to collect from the area in which you live - close by - but not picking up your neighbours form.
Sometimes it is difficult to pick the form up as the occupant is never in!
It's difficult to get into lots of blocks of flats - and there is a language problem!!
Old people just want to chat to you - and others just abuse you!

    What sort of scenarios?

the entire senario is based on a make believe government health promotion, inwhich you are a canvassor on the programme. There are three exercises, and eight questions in each exercise. Each question then has eight multiple questions, you will be expected to choose four answers from the question possed to you.

This year forms will be delivered by post to individual residential properties. Communal properties such as prisons, refuges, secure hospitals will have their forms delivered by hand. The completed forms are then returned by post or completed online.

cencus collectors would need to visit many, many properties who dont return there completed forms

does anyone know if the length of contract (6april to 6 may ie 4 weeks and 2 days) means you can claim working tax credit?

also, will you qualify for housing benefit extended payment? or not so because it's less than 5 weeks?
