I was telling my friends about this Technika MP229 MP3 player last night, and I'm so impressed with it that I thought it was a good enough reason for me to join this forum today, to spread the news here too.
I bought this very small mp3 player from Tesco last week - the black version not the pink! - and I wore it on a hour's run yesterday. I am very pleased with my purchase.
The mp3 player is about the same size as the iPod Shuffle, there's no display just buttons. There is a more expensive version with a display but I like the idea of "less is more", and the MP229 is smaller because of this.
Anyway, the sound is great (certainly good enough for me, there are some graphic equaliser options), and for £12.97 I reckon this is real value, considering that the iPod Shuffle is over 3 times the price. At £13 you don't have to worry so much about the potential of damage whilst running.
The only downside I can think of so far is that it doesn't have a random shuffle option or playlists.
One of the reactions from my friends last night was that if it was an mp3 player it wouldn't be able to play their itunes music. I guess this is a common feeling, that your itunes library of music will only work with Apple iPods. But this is not the case, as you should be able to right click on tracks (possibly multiple tracks too) within the itunes software to convert from aac to mp3 files (I tend to, where possible, download tracks from Amazon which are in mp3 format anyway).
BTW I have an iPod Touch too, but I wouldn't take that on a run!
I know this isn't a long term review so I can't comment on whether it is built to last, but let's see how it goes. Perhaps I'll report back after a few month's usage (wear and tear) too.
edit: sorry the correct spelling of the name is Technika not Teknika!

I should really add that with this Technika mp3 player, I'm not using the standard earphones that come with it, but instead I'm using my favourite Maxell Colour Canalz earphones (just over a fiver from Wilkinsons). The Maxell earphones fit further into the ear, a snugger fit (better for running), and they certainly make a difference sound-wise too.0
