Well today i received a letter from Wescot credit services about an outstanding amount for the royal bank of scotland.
What happened was:
I worked for the RBS and when i left i owed holidays therefore had to pay it back. RBS took the money from a supposedly closed account with rbs when my staff account was with Natwest. I couldnt speak to my hr department about it so spoke 2 RBS as i had by then incurred a lot of charges. They agreed for me to pay back the amount of around £110 and i would only incur overdraft interest of a small amount. I then receieved statements and each month the balance was increasing as they wer charging me £!0 per month plus unagreed overdraft interest.
So today this letter demands £196.23 from me by 14th November. I phoned Wescot and they say i have to pay the full amount or can pay £150 one off payment (i cant do that i am a student!) i said i would phone back and the woman said, "well i need to make an arrangement" i said i wouldnt as i want to speak to rbs 1st which she replied "well il pass it over then and u will incur more charges, goodbye" !?!?!?
Please help where do i stand? what can i do????

Did you try to increase your overdraft with RBS?

Have you got an interest free overdraft as a student - can you use it to pay off these idiots?"Debt makes plans for you" - A quote from my friend Catherine. How true!0 -
No, i am only in college so dont qualify til next year! i didnt have any overdraft on the account and then they put one on so i wudnt incur charges! They said the branch will not talk to me and i dont have the £196 to pay! do i have any other option? x0

I think it just about sums up the attitude of RBS, and other Banks, to send a 'debt' of £110.00 to a DCA, having previously agreed to your payments. They appear, also, to have added illegal charges, which I would dispute.
I would tell, in writing, Wescott that you do not acknowledge any debt to them. Then I would write to RBS and dispute the charges, offering to pay the ORIGINAL debt (without charges) at a monthly amount that you can afford. Do not let the DCA force you into making a commitment to pay any more than you can reasonably afford to pay.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
