  • You can cut down on your groceries. Try shopping around for electricity - I live in a one bed HOUSE and I only spend 30 on elec a month in summer and 37 in winter - and that's with storage heaters! Try using Quidco to boost income to a bit too

Viola.. ever tried using public transport when hard of hearing? by that i mean my doctor classes me as severe/profoundly deaf.. buses are a complete no-no, can't even hear the driver over the engine/road noise. Trains are similar despite the fact that they are generally fixed in where they can go lol

This is outside of my area of knowledge and you will certainly know more than me but why can't you catch a train? Each stop is labelled and since the route is fixed, you could learn it.
  • ellebelles - i have shopped around and got npower as the cheapest deal :) mind you i do expect it to come down as it's only just started on npower and we're coming out of the winter period.. well supposedly anyway

Viola - i have used the train before and it is easier when the stations are fixed lol, it's just when the tannoy start blaring out that so and so train is delayed due to whatever reason or that the next train will not be stopping at so and so station that gets me confused.. generally the info boards are correct but not always so i prefer to rely on my car for getting to work.

I can certainly understand that you would prefer it but the question is whether you can afford that preference.
  • Do you have a Disabled Persons railcard?

OK It isn't cheap to buy in the first place but it's a good saving on rail fares.

  • Hi are you eligible for working tax credits? Also have you checked to see if you are entitled to any other benefits?

I didn`t know a deaf person was allowed to drive as they can`t hear any warnings. I apologise if this is wrong.

Good luck with getting these debts under control, you've done the hardest part by posting, and it will get easier, CAB will give good advice.

Also, look at another board UP YOUR INCOME as this will hopefully give you some inspiration to make a few extra pounds, second job, survey sites (good for covering gifts at birthdays & Christmas), e-baying etc

Yes you are wrong, there is special provision made for taking a driving test.
