I couldn't find this mentioned here and I don't know whether this is the right thread to mention it but feel free to move it if appropriate.
I found and registered to this website yesterday:

https://www.garlik.co.uk

For a limited period of time they'll send a full credit report for free if you register.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

  • I went on to this website yesterday afternoon and signed up for the free trial. They first verify your email address and then send an activation code to the home address you supply. I was amazed to get my code this morning.

At this time, I can look at my credit report and then in about 2 weeks time find out what other data is out there about me.

The credit report is excellent. You can get your credit score; you can see how it classifies the area you live in; you get a complete credit history on all your loans/cards etc. So, for example, if you want to see how much you paid off in September 2003 or any other month it is there.

I was very impressed and as it's free at the moment, I recommend giving it a go
  • Does this leave any 'footprints' on your file?
  • can i cancel it after ive looked at my report?

Yes it will leave a check on your file but it will be noted that it's not for lending purposes.
I don't think it will be available for lenders to see.
There are different types of checks so it's nothing to worry about.
    It's shouldn't adversely affect you.
Checking your own credit file is a good thing.
can i cancel it after ive looked at my report?

I have signed up and I did not need to give any credit card details.
The others work on the basis that you give payment details and then have to cancel if you don't want to be charged.
I'm not totally sure how this works, but there were no payment details given up front.
I am assuming that you are invited to sign up after the trial.
