B&Q Select Superlink Vinyl Planks

As above, we've been looking at these for the bathroom. Only need short lengths between bath and wall 80cms at its widest. So it seems more economical than buying vinyl sheets and wasting half of it. They interlock like laminate and lie like a floating floor. OH has laid a hardboard underlay but wants to stick them down although instructions say not necessary. Has anyone used them please and have you any advice on underlay etc? Only 2 adults using that room so shouldn't be too much splashing! Thanks in advance:)

I used them no problem, very easy and self adhesive so no additional glue required. I first laid a hardboard underlay as you have done. The only thing is that the joins can collect dirt so need a good scrub every week to keep looking clean at the seams. If you used a vinyl sheet cut to size then you wouldnt have these seams but the vinyl planks themselves are ok.

Thanks for your help. Am I right in thinking that the hardboard should be 'shiny side down' so they don't slip?

  • I laid mine shiny side down but Im not convinced it would be a problem as the glue on these planks is VERY tacky and as they but up against each other they dont move. I overpurchased by 2 packs so have enough spare in case someone drops an iron pointy end down on it or some other such catastrophe

Update: Just to say that they are now fitted and we are very pleased with them. OH says they were easy to lay and I find them warmer. more quiet and 'softer' than vinyl sheeting or laminate would have been. We intend using them in the kitchen which is another project on the list. Got a bargain as the design was being discontinued, mightn't be so lucky next time.:(
