Hello
Wondered if anyone had any advice. I want to make a simple website - no need for money transactions. I was going to get Mr Site but I saw it had quite a lot of bad reviews on Amazon. Can anyone else recommend something simple? thanks in advance

If its just a simple website then go for notepad and use google for tutorials. Free and easySmile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0

No need to faff around with learning HTML / notepad route
Simple site, try free Serif webplus http://www.serif.com/freedownloads/
Or free Net Objects Fusion Essentilas http://netobjects.com/html/essentials.html
Both are earlier versions of their current offerings, but for simple site and cutting your teeth so to speakEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I started with

Then after I'd sussed the (very) basics, I used KompoZer.
I've just up dated mine with a bit of text some images and a few links to more photos.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
If it's a basic site, I'd keep it simple and use a text editor (such as Notepad) to create HTML and CSS files. You can spend ages fannying around with complex web-design software, but can get a simple HTML/CSS page done in a few minutes.
Have a look at w3schools.com for HTML and CSS tutorials (as well as Javascript, ASP, PHP, etc. if you want to take things further...).0 -
Here's one thats gets good reviews and looks easy to use:

Not terribly ethical - but I usually find a website that has approximately the right layout, grab the source code and edit it to fit what I want. Saves having to code from scratch.0

I find Microsoft Frontpage is a wonderfully easy what you see is what you get website creation tool.
Long obsolete now, I wonder what replaced it for sheer simplicity but functional too?0 -

Im pretty sure it was expression web thats replaced it, i too found frontpage very easy to use and do still use it although i am tempted to use dreamweaver as an upgrade to it.0 -
+1 for expression web, from my previous frontpage experience pages usually turned out looking like a clipart nightmare lol gifs, marquis, funny cursors and horrible sounds were that ever came from frontpage, i think expression web has grown up a lot and i used it to design internal pages for a company i used to work for.0
