I started a thread about this exact product a few days ago, if you search by my user name you'll find it!

Something to bear in mind which I found out when I phoned about it, you have to have a bank account with First Direct, so if you don't they organise that first before getting the mortgage sorted. It has to have a minimum of £1500 go into it a month, and you have to pay the mortgage from it.

Means I will have to do some money shuffling, but no great problem.

Other than that I think its a fab deal.

First Direct are part of HSBC.
  • and HSBC are as correctly said part of the same company.
That said, we've been absolutely delighted with the change to FD - we were with Smile bank beforehand...

And again as said before, you need to put your salary in to FD. In my 5 months with them, I've been delighted with FD, they've been very prompt, polite and courteous and I've had nothing bad to say against them.

It's known that First Direct are offering a lot of competitive deals this year (and last year), partly due to them not being hit too harsh by the down turn and toxic debt etc.

    Certainly well worth it!

Having maintained a traditional view on lending criteria throughout the boom years. The most picky of lenders when it comes to underwriting mortgages.
  • much more eloquently put than I said :)
