Cheltenham & Gloucesters taken my money

I went to my local lloyds bank to see about remortgaging & refixing it with the C&G,but the C&G refused the loan of the extra money.We were advised by the bank official that other mortgage providers might be willing to loan the extra money so nothing was agreed or signed at that time.A few days later we receive the papers from the C&G for signatures agreeing to the refixing of the original mortgage(needing to be returned within 21 days otherwise our mortgage would remain at the svr).Since I had found that the Abbey would be willing to lend the extra cash & at a lower rate I did not sign the papers or return them.To my horror I have just found out that the C&G has refixed the mortgage & added another £299 onto the mortgage for doing so.They now tell me they will revert the mortgage back to the svr but will not refund the £299.Surely this cant be right as I havent signed anything or agreed to anything.

Ask them to provide paperwork showing you signed the documentation. They cannot do this without your signature.
