I was told Id get a call back as no-one available in that department. I have also tried calling my landlors to set things up properly with them, but my Housing Officer wasnt available So I have her calling me tomorrow (I hope) Or i'll ring them again anyway. Have also been on phone to Credit Card Companies, and HSBC told me that as a payment was due to them tomorrow, if i cancelled that payment it would then put me into there "corrections" department so i'm to call them tomorrow to arrange a new repayment schedule.
Barclaycard kinda said the same thing to call them nearer the time when my next payment was due, and said they can arrange something for 6 months at a reduced payment of £36 a month which is half what my minimum amount would be.
Called Tax Credits to change bank account details over and they can pass details for my child benefit payment too, but also made the call to arrange my HMRC debt recovery to be taken from this new account too. next payment due 21st Jan,
So gives me an extra £5 this week to put to somewhere! I'm just glad a few things are now starting to take shape again!
Glad to hear you are making progress, hopefully now you can get things under control!0 -
a slight step backwards, phoned bank again today, and the woman got it all wrong yesterday! januarys payment had already gone
sooo nothing they can do to help me! other then tell to see a finaincial adviser at the bank. NOW as i'm trying to change banks anyway i dont really wanna do that now.
i'm stressy today cos i got 2 kids at home 1 through illness and the baby being a complete whingebag!
Would anyone have any idea with changing my bank account over would my tax credit payment due tomorrow now be later then expected into the new account or still be paid into the old account?0 -
ok another thing, when working out weekly and 4 weekly benefit payments is it best to type them into a soa as 4 weekly or work out a monthly payment0

Hi ceejay
I'd agree with you that its not a good idea to go and see a financial adviser at the bank, all they will be doing is trying to sell you new products/more expensive loans or trying to assess your finances prior to recalling your overdraft/stopping credit cards etc.
When doing the SoA its usually easy if you convert everything to monthly equivalents - simply because a lot of bills are monthly so you are comparing like with like.
Hopefully you can speak to someone at the council today. That really does seem to be a priority. Until you know how much they want each month/how soon they need the debt paying back its hard to progress further with your unsecured debts and repayments on them.
And so you won't know if you can find a way to struggle through or whether you need advice from one of the debt charities.
Good luck with speaking to them and starting to get things sorted.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Well the council i spoke to, still yet to agree terms with my housing association, as i was told before christmas minimum they will except towards rent arrears is 3.30 a week which in my current possition (with 9,90 out of the 21. (something) i now get in HB) means id be paying 90.05 a week, But i'm unsure as to if my HA would be agreeable to a Monthly Direct Debit paid from my partners account (as although been living together for past year n a bit he isnt a joint tenant yet though can be now as been living together more then 12 months.
The council re The Council Tax have said that until i speak to the CAB and go through a SOA with them they wont agree to any repayment schedule BUT in the meantime just pay what i can towards the remaining balance between now and the end of march!
I gotta call my housing officer soon, so fingers crossed there. I think they too can refer me to CAB as its been mentioned before.0 -
Oh why cant anything be simple, just phoned and spoke to my housing officer, she said DD's aren't acceptable whilst people have rent arrears current arrears being 367.52 BUT that the amount the previous lady told me would be minimum to pay towards the arrears was if i we was a complete non-working household that was pending a court appearance, but as we are a working family they would want more! BUT she is contacting the CAB on my behalf!0

true enough i suppose, And i just know from whats been said on here, roughly what they will say. My other half has made alot of sacrifices since our little man was born, he was an avid football match goer, and i'm lucky if i can count on one hand how many games he's been to this year, and i know he wont want to get rid of the beloved sky sports. I'm hoping we can release some money to satisfy both those parties (Council and my Housing Association) without it being scrapped, i dont mind the rest of the TV being basic as long as he has his sports lol
At the moment im also wondering when my next tax credits payment will arrive. as i had hoped my usual payment would still be there tomorrow but looks like it may be delayed with the transfer of bank accounts.0 -
Just spoke to Virginmedia about our package. As idealy wanted to keep skysports but reduce everything else, but that would only save about £17.81 off our current package deal, which for the VIP package we do have has a deal value worth £38. odd saving. and paying all that money for essentially freeview with skysports is even worse value for money then what we got! So I'm going to wait until I speak to CAB and the other half to see how we feel REALLY about skysports.
AS not only do we now have to factor these debts we need to pay off BUT my mum n dad are moving away to Isle of wight within the next week or so, as their house is already sold, so we will be visiting them fairly regularly (well every couple of months)0 -
managed to get a deal out of Virginmedia, reduced my package and threated to leave them, have got the online price, so for next 6 months will be about £58 (big difference from 95) (I've also set up a debt free diary too in the thing above) hopefully by end of next week when i phone the CC's back again i'll beable to come to the deals i need, (6 months is better then nothing) But have also been to CAB Have been giving myself a headache trying to find all the paperwork they want, but i think im getting there. But actually taking the weekly budget money out of the account in cash rather then using the debit card has been a massive thing, I know Its only been 1 week, but it makes me more enclined not to spend money i can ill afford right now!
As tbh i dread to think how much i had frittered away on crap! If the 2 credit cards and the virgin bill, and my sticking to my weekly budget we can actually have £140(ish) a month to put towards what we owe!0
