Venues in Sheffield /Marquee

Hi all.

I proposed to my now fiancee, on christmas day and she accepted

We've already decided we want to get married at some point next year for sure.

At the moment my partner is still at uni, but also works part time. She finishes in april so we plan on moving in together in May, which shouldn't be a problem as i work full time and she will have certain grants spare to help us kit out the house.

The problem is, with all this going off and the additional bills for living, I don't know if we can afford the perfect wedding we want. The problem is that most of the nice places we want, wont let us cater ourselves (as my mum is a rather seasoned buffet caterer) and insist you MUST have all the extras etc.

My question is, does anyone know of any nice/posh/different venue in Sheffield/Derbyshire that are stunning, but would allow us to cater for the evening party? As i really am struggling to find anywhere short of the local pub.

We are also considering a Marquee wedding in my partners relatives Garden. Does anyone have any info/advise on this? As i wouldnt know where to start but really like the idea!

I'm not sure whereabouts in Sheffield you are, but Norton Country Club (opposite Graves Park) allow you to cater yourself and you can have a marquee in the garden.

There is a venue out near Tideswell, past Ladybower reservoir, that lets you do your own catering and drinks and so on...I can't remember what it is called, but it also has accommodation for people to stay at, so you could get some money back from your guests for this, as they would have somewhere to stay afterwards.

We are having our wedding blessing and reception at Whirlow Hall Farm, can hire the farmhouse gardens which can hold a marquee/gazebo - even better your money goes to a charity and you can do what you like!
