ETA - To clarify the term "Oxford English Dictionary" - The £4000 "OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARY" is the full 20 volume work (2nd Edition) with 3 volumes of additions covering 600,000 words in great detail. The same content is in the "Compact Oxford English Dictionary" (£275) which needs a magnifier to read as 9 pages are printed on each page. The £95 "Shorter Oxford English Dictionary" is a 2 volume work covering the same 600,000 words but in less detail. The single volume £31 "Concise Oxford English Dictionary" is the one that is familiar to most people and covers 240,000 words. The "online edition" of the full work includes work completed for the forthcoming 3rd edition.

I would say false. Wikipedia lists at least two which are longer and could be counted.

Thats says in "the 20-volume historical Oxford English Dictionary in" not the Oxford Dictionary

I posted the Carling comps on a regular basis for quite a long time. When these true or false comps first came out, quickly realised that it's not the actual answer they want, it's what they think the answer is !
They seem to find it tricky reading past the 1st post in any Google search!
