as some of you well know, I am quite in a mess with money. So my credit rating is poor, however is it worth requesting credit reports and then trying to improve my credit record....they're maybe stuff on the report that says I have a store card open etc when I actually no longer do....or any thoughts/suggestions on what I can do to improve my credit rating?
thanks

Yes its definately worth it for the sake of spending £4! (£2 for experian and the same for equifax).
It may tell you things you didn't know or remind you about things you had forgotten!
Certainly it will help you tidy things up which is good long term
Make sure any closed accounts, cards etc are marked as closed (you will need to right to the relevant companies).0 -
You may find your name is still financially linked to somebody else with a poor credit history.
I have a good history, never missing payments however because my name is still linked to an ex partner with an appalling credit history I can't even open a bank account.
Try https://www.creditexpert.co.uk Gives you a free 30-day trial of the CreditExpert Monitoring Service and your free online Experian credit report. Just make sure you cancel after the 30 days or you get charged £49.95.
You could always phone Experian and Equifax and ask them what's holding you back on your credit report and what you can do to improve it. They were very helpful when I called them.
Hope you get sorted soon.My mind not only wanders .......... sometimes it leaves completely0
