in Cutting tax
Hi Everyone,
Viewed this forum for a long time, but now I need a bit of advice...
I currently have two jobs, one part time, and one full time... My tax personal allowance is assigned to the part time one, and I would like to switch it over to the full time job as I'm currently paying too much tax (due to my BR tax code)....
What is the best way to go about this (HR and Payroll seem pretty good at not answering my questions properly)...
Regards,
Gav

Just ring up the tax office and ask them to switch the coding notices. They're normally quite helpful. If they can't do it on the phone, they'll tell you which form you need to complete.0 -
As above, they will normally deal with it over the phone. It is a lot simpler if both employers are dealt with by the same tax office (you don't get the other tax office changing it back again ) You may have to make sure you have a cash buffer available because sods law says the job that is underpaid will have the deduction made before the one you have overpaid gets refunded (again )0

How much do you earn in your part-time job? If it's over £6475pa then it will make no difference. If it's less than that then, as advised, speak to HMRC and ask them to swap the codes about.0
