Has anyone bought a vacuum from direct-vacuums?

I really need to buy a vacuum cleaner. I live close enough to this ebay company to be able to pick up from their warehouse, so can avoid the P&P, therefore pay a decent price.
Their models are all reconditioned with a 1 yr warranty. They have 99.6% positive feedback. What worried me was when I looked at their negative feedback and, just reading that, it didn't look good.
Should I just ignore the negative, and trust them on their thousands of positive feedbacks?

The one thing which stood out for me is that Direct Vacuums are BIG sellers - over 19000 feedback ratings in 12 months.
I think your problem is that you've looked at their negative feedback in isolation. If you do that with any Ebay seller with less than a 100% record it's bound to make them look poor.
I scoured through every rating dating back to Christmas Day - that's 20 pages, 500 entries - and the vast majority were positive.
I've not used them, because my vacuum cleaners is 20+ years old and still going strong, but if I needed one I'd seriously consider buying it from them. Everything's secondhand but the prices are more than reasonable. What would slightly put me off is the quite high delivery charges.0 -
Any particular model you are after? The reason I ask is because we went from a Dyson to one of the Argos budget ranges and the thing is an absolute beast at picking up dirt. It destroys our Dyson even when our Dyson was new.
They only cost about £35 or so.
Ok just had a look they are now £50 but very powerful for what you pay. Not sure if I can put links but here is the model: VU-102 Pet Hair Bagless Upright.
They also have some VACS reduced from £99 to £39 with some very good reviews.0 -
Thank you both. I think I am going to go with Direct vacuums as they have a very good rating. I can easily go and pick it up as they are only about 5 miles away and I am going that way tomorrow anyway. They seem to sell mostly Hoovers. I have looked at the reviews for the different ones they sell, so I will just have to see which one I can get. They have a few on for today, so must get bidding!
I think I may as well go for one of theirs as I can get quite an expensive model for much less than RRP.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

I managed to win an ebay auction on one of their Hoovers (Alyx 200w) for £15. Was able to go and pick it up from the warehouse. Apart from some cosmetic damage to the box, and no instruction manual (available to download) it is like a brand new hoover. Very pleased.
Mind you, I have never had a bagless one before and after hoovering the whole house, I decided to empty to cylinder. Clicked it off the vacuum no problem and was standing clicking the wee lever at the top, trying to figure out how the 'lid' came off, when I realised too late, that it opens at the bottom!!!!! So I had a whole house worth of dust and hair all over me, and liberally all over my newly cleaned floor!!!! That'll teach me. LOLFather Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

I don't think any company will have a 100% positive feedback rating especially if they have a significant amount of reviews.. it is just not possible to please everyone and even when you do everything right you will still get people complaining or leaving a bad review over something that wasn't even your fault!
You have to look at the bigger picture and based on what you say, they sound pretty good.Shin: a device for finding furniture in the dark.0
