As well as bleeding all the radiators depending on what type of heating/water system you have you may also have to bleed elsewhere - for example a standard system with hot water tank / pump and diverter valve will typically have a vertical section of pipe that can be bled with the use of a dirty big screwdriver.0

well the plumber has been back and has got the hot water running again. It was so unbelievably simple what he did. For future reference if you arn't getting any out of your taps or just very little all you do is hold you palm across the tap, and turn the hot on. Basically I think this starts to release air blockages in the pipes. Then hit the cold water on, which forces the air out. Repeat a few times at different pressures and you've got water again. Exceptionally simple. I've agreed to give him £220 for it, and he has agreed to return to completely bleed one of the radiators for me which hopefully should get that working again. Although I have to say that not all radiators are burning at the same temperature.0

The price sounds about 'normal' going by what was being charged over the Christmas period but not 'right' IMHO though as with all businesses - it's worth what people will pay and this was most certainly a seller's market.
As for clearing the airlock - it is simple; but he knew how to - that's what you're paying for.
However I certainly wouldn't pay the increased price until he has finished the job to your satisfaction.
As to the radiators not heating to the same level - they can get blocked with 'gunge' rather than air and this can be an indication of reaching the end of their useful life. One of my double panel radiators doesn't heat the rear panel, I need to disconnect it, take it outside & hose it out which will hopefully clear the blockage, but that's a job for warmer / brighter days: as a temporary measure we simply keep that radiator 'opened up' more than usual so that the front panel is hotter than usual - not the ideal solution, but it works (sorta).0 -
have agreed to pay him £220 and he has promised to come back Monday morning for payment and to fix radiator. He is going to invoice me then as well so I'll pay up and hope the insurance companies don't throw up a stink when I put my first claim through.0
