Hi,
i am just getting my recycling boxes back up and running - we have one for glass, paper and cans but nothing for plastics
i was thinking of giving the plasic milk bottles to school and thought that i could give them my egg boxes and a couple of pringle tubes i've got........ would they appreciate this?
what other things can i donate to school instead of it going in my rubbish bin/recycling boxes??

My little boys school loves our "junk"
Egg boxes
Any empty boxes (cereal, toothpaste, tissue)
Yogurt pots
old cards (birthday, christmas)
milk bottle lids
pringles tubes
kitchen roll tubes, tubes from posters or kitchen foil/cling film
Some schools accept toilet roll tubes and some dont, so check first
Hope this helpsGoodreads 2025 Challenge :16/75

my childrens school loves junk. there is private nursery and state nursery and a primary school all on same site. but i think the've had a bit too much as a not in school news letter asking for no more donations please.
things like milk containers, marg pots, toilet rolls, yoghurts pots are also handy for those growing there own to start seedlings in. i often offer on freecycle if i have too much.0 -
its a great idea BUT
pls check first if the local school will accept any items from you
cos good old health and safety and such daft rules will say no
i used to have loads of coloured paper / beads/ buttons/foam shapes the lot and i was having a clear out and happen to mention this to the teachers at sons school, who said they would take it in a heart beat but were told there wernt allowed too as the school couldnt / "didnt know the source" ??? and it needed to be traceable???
its madness as i must have had a underbed box full of the stuff - i since have found a good home for it
so annoying when u think about it

thanks for the replys!!!
so as long as the school will accept it, pretty much anything goes
think my DH will get annoyed with me - i'm gonna have a reusable bag in the kitchen for anything that can be given to school rather than going in the bin!!
jcr16 thanks for the tip about gyo - we are wanting to start growing some stuff so it's good to know i can use old marg tubs for this!!0 -
Newspapers are readily accepted by most schools especially weekend broadsheets.0

most schools don't accept toilet roll tubes ours doesn't or anything glass, i think our family has overloaded our school for junk modelling as we had a note to say thankyou lol it never lasts long when you see some of the fantastic creations the kids come out with:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

I'd go and ask the shcool before you start collecting specially
I'll move this to the Green and Ethical Board later.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies.
