This offer seems to rotate round the supermarkets on a regular basis. I know that Lidl had this as a special not long ago as well. I stock up when I see it as I use it for baking and I don't think I've paid full price in over a year.

I'm cynical. One company I checked up on in detail had two tiny stores (if you could call them that) in the back of beyond with all their stuff at what they called "full price". They could therefore sell stuff at 80% off (that company sometimes went to 90%) in their "normal" shops quite legally. That was extreme but I did notice a carefully worded notice about discounts in a major chain outlet at Lakeside which could be read as ........
ergo: it would have been difficult to buy at full price in any case. As you suggest the whole idea is to buy at the lowest possible price and forget how many percent it is off.

I agree with the other posters about deciding your own maximum price I never pay more than £1.50 per kg for buttery spread as it's always on offer somewhere! Same with cheese, I always look for it on offer at £5 per kg or less (for cheddar type cheese).
