ARGOS PRICING - don't pay £300.00 more than you need

I've always relied on Argos prices to be fair and reasonable but now I'm not so sure. On their internet site some prices seem to change almost daily and the discounts quoted are therefore confusing. Be particularly careful of their 'package' pricing - it can be a lot more expensive than buying the items individually. Bare in mind that whatever I quote here could change tomorrow but catalogue number 536/9124 priced at £1199.99 for a TV and a Blu ray player can be bought on the same website separately for £831.49 - catalogue numbers 536/8936 and 533/8746

Ah I see why now. First of all they're slightly different TVs - went through the spec, only a few minor things different, plus the individual TV was Was £1049.99 and is now £723.79, so over £300 saving a it's in the sale. The Blu-ray is on sale too, save £52 or so.
This happens a lot when things go on sale, especially in supermarkets.
They've brought the price down of the TV and Blu-ray player just not of the package.0 -

Hi Sharon
There's a difference between charging a £1 more for two packs of lager compared to over £300 more for a TV with a blu ray player!0 -

Yes but the 2 individual items are in the sale and the package isn't.
It doesn't make sense why they have reduced the individual items and not the package but thats the way all companies work and not just Argos.
To be honest its down to the people purchasing to check these things out.0 -
I never find Argos cheap at all. Some of these stuff is crap wouldn't buy there own branded tvs for example, only thing they have going for them is convenience0

I can confirm that the TV in the package is the same as the individual item costing over £300.00 less. There was a mistake in the technical description of the individual TV which was repeated for the TV in the package. Within the last couple of days Trading Standards have forced Argos to remove the description referring to 'LED image enhancement' as it was misleading - the TV is not LED. Argos have so far omitted to remove this description from the TV in the package. I feel that it's a shame that Trading Standards can't also force Argos to withdraw completely this misleading package. I wonder how many unsuspecting customers have fallen for this apparant package 'con' and given Argos £300.00 more than they need?0
