How to delay switching the central heating on

Hot water bottles, definitely!
Be careful you don't get ill from the cold, though - air out the house just prior to putting the heating on (especially if you're drying washing indoors) so that the place doesn't get damp. It's better to cut down on the luxuries and put the heating on for a bit than to get bronchitis, especially if you have young children around!
Just my 2p. Keep warm all

And be sociable. Visit all your friends regularly, preferably those with the heating on. If you feel guilty about using their heat, bake some cakes/biscuits to take with you. It's a win win situation.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -

I grew up without heating in the bedroom. I hated it when we got central heating, too hot and dry. I think I've got soft since then and feel the cold more.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420
