I have worked in a number of NHS trusts in Yorkshire and have no break in service. From what I could make out as long as you stay in the NHS it all counts . Thanks - yes, it makes sense. I still wonder whether each PCT would expect a minimum amount of service from an employee first though? Guess I'd check it out with the HR dept, but wondered if anyone else had done this before?

In our NHS trust, it doesn't matter if you reduce hours during the 3 month period following maternity leave - just so long as you return to work.

In fact, I've never known us to look for money back from anyone who leaves after maternity leave - many would take annual leave or sick leave during their notice period. However perhaps we are too lenient!

Don't forget that you WONT accrue annual leave during unpaid maternity leave.
