The phone's ringing - it must be the CSA

++

Started getting phone calls at work today again for my Accounts dept (not that we have one as such) from the DWP - why don't they just say CSA  It's the only Government office that ever rings us...

I'm not sure if you just wanted to rant or wanted sympathy but I doubt you are going to get any sympathy without going into detail of exactly why they would need to ring you at work. Are you currently not paying maintenance?

Well my ex hubbys work gets a call from the DWP ( ok really the CSA) EVERY month because although he pays me through a deduction of earnings the girl who does the wages has only once in the 8 years that he has been paying me sent the money through on time. This month for example the money should have been with CSA on 19th October. It arrived with CSA today (after CSA caleld them twice ) so I now have to wait until it clears their system then they send it to me by BACS so if I am lucky I will get it about the 10th November . then on the 19th November it will all start again.

If the CSA calls it is for a legitimate reason, like someone waiting on money to feed their kids or buy them clothes.

The CSA are phoning work because work can't pay them the right amount each month!! They have a letter telling the accounts dept what to pay - some months they pay more and some months they pay less. I don't know why because my wages never change...

I have my contributions taken out of my wages after the CSA computer was unable to set up my direct debit correctly - twice...

If this was true - I wouldn't mind so much...

I should pay £342 to the CSA (for 1 child & arrears) under the old rules - although I have been paying £398, £420, £298, £233 and £342 (in no particular order)...

My ex-partner got married, had 2 more children and then divorced - so she has 2 claims with the CSA...

I'm on the old system & he's on the new system (don't get me started on that)...

My ex-partner is claiming benefits and as a result is unlikely to see any of what I pay and about £10-20 of what her ex-husband pays...

As an aside - my partner, her daughter and I have £17 (bewteen us) a month left spend of clothes, holidays, birthdays/christmas and other luxuries, after the household bills and living expenses are paid out...

The father of my partners child has her every weekend, pays for her after school clubs and contributes towards her school clothes and stuff - he is probably paying at least as much as what the CSA would want off him...

I work 40+ hours, 6 days a week and my partner works 16 hours - we would nearly be financially better off not working...

That was my rant from yesterday - in a bit more detail... What I don't want to happen is for the accounts dept to pay the CSA what they have underpaid in one go or everyone will be getting a letter saying that Christmas was cancelled due to the CSA...

I have a tribunal at the end of Novemeber - but I'm not expecting anything to change...

Are you paid weekly or monthly? My problems arose because my ex gets paid weekly and his company are asked to send the money to CSA monthly, this has resulted in many problems as they were sending 4 weeks money at a time and it created arrears at one point of £950. I will stress this was not my ex hubys fault but the fault of his payroll dept. In the end the CSA changed my money to a monthly charge but he still gets paid weekly. I know this causes problems as I am supposed to egt £260 per month and in the last 6 months I have had

    £180
    £320
    £260
    £000
    £480

this money is never send regulary and causes no end of problems. CSA never speak to my ex about this as it is his payroll that are th problem. My situation is different as i am not on benefits so I do get all this money eventually but because it is so irregular I cannot budget for this on a certain date each month and it does cause problems. My current hubby pays his ex £60.00 per week, every friday without fail in her hand so much easier but I know this is not possible in all cirumstances.

I was not getting at you, CSA are a law onto themself, if they phone you as them to deal with whoever does your wages, this is not your fault but theirs.

    She is on income support?

The reason I'm posting is that I'm concerned you are CS1 and the other NRP is on CS2. This is wrong - CSA's fault. Your case should have been migrated over to CS2.

Phone them up and ask to speak to a Complaints Resolution Officer ( CRO ). Take their name and direct ( geographical ) phone number.

As for the other issue it is your employer's responsibility to comply with the DEO.

    The tribunal should prove interesting.

Scarlett and Doelani - phone them up and ask to be put through to CRO.

I have a direct number for the manager of the debt dept that deals with the arrears and am on first name terms with her lol I no longer even phone the normal CSA number and ex hubbys employer have been issued with so many letters threatening action against them I have lost count. Each time they just pay whatever they have deducted and then it is back to square 1. Once they did not send any money for 10 weeks and I was almost evicted from my rented home at the time. I just give up complaining now and phone ask is money in and if not as when they are expecting it. I used to get myself so stressed over it. Over the years I have complained and wrote letters, wrote to MD of hubbys firm about his staff holding back money from my children and I was going to go to the newspapers about it. That really got a response. I got a letter of apoligy. It lasted for 2 months when money was only a few days late. Last time CSA told his firm they were going to egt permission to go directly to companies bank account and take the money as they believed they were holding the money back. Did not believe they could do this but I got all money up to date plus £500 arrears paid withing 2 weeks. So something they said worked. Once I stop getting money from ex I am going to send his wages clerk a big bunch of flowers to thank her for her help over the years getting my money off to CSA each month !! Can you tell I do not like her and it may be personal, she has a soft spot for my ex lol

Only another 2 years then free from CSA.

To doelani - sounds like the CSA actually managed to do something for you...

I've never been against paying for my son but I'd much rather the money went to him (and his mother) in addition to any benefits they were getting - rather have both them and I (and my new partner) living off the equivalent of Income Support (which isn't bad as I work 40+ hours - makes it all worthwhile)...

I can understand why people through the CSA paperwork straight in the bin though - even when something seems straight forward it's not!!

I once started signing on at one town but moved on within 2 weeks so I never completed the claim procedure - I started claiming JSA from my new address and notified the CSA about my new circumstances.

I didn't tell the CSA that I had lived at the first address because I moved on so quickly - the CSA still managed to keep sending my mail there for 6 months even though I NEVER told them that I had lived there!! How great is that..?

I suppose it will be too much to expect a fair system for all under the latest new assessment system..?
