in Cutting tax
Hi all,
Just wondered if anyone could clarify the tax situation on a second part time job?
My main job I earn £20,000 salary - the second I'll be earning £87 once a week between now and March 27th. (13 days in total -Each Sunday and an extra Friday in two days time)
The tax code on my main job is 647L.
How much should I expect to take home from this??
And is there anything I need to do with regards to my tax codes to make sure I'm not over/under taxed?
Cheers!

Since your personal allowance is already being used on your main job, your earnings from a second job should be taxed at 20%, you should get a BR tax code.
Your £87 less tax will be £69.600 -
You should tick box C on your P46 form as follows:
Do you currently have another job or state pension income ?
Box C
BR code
You won't get a tax-free allowance in this job. It is assumed you get the full allowance - code 647L - on your other job or pension. You'll be taxed at 20% on all your pay in this job.Hideous Muddles from Right Charlies0 -
