Loan for Bad Credit?

Maybe the Nigerian loan agents would love such a tempting offer0

And I have a guranteed job once I return, so I will always have the money to pay back.
I wouldn't count on that! Nothing is certain these days.
If your job still exists when you are on holiday, your employer will have to fill the vacancy - and that person may prove to be more reliable than you (i.e. not 5odding off for a 6 month holiday!).
Alternatively, they may find that they've been able to manage quite well without you and there is no longer a need for your position.
Just don't count your chickens...My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.
They are not a substitute for professional financial advice - but you knew that already didn't you?

I'm planning to go travelling with friends in October this year. If i'd of known earlier than I would of started saving.
Basically I need a loan. I tried applying for one with my bank but that was over Christmas, just before I got paid and had about £30 in my bank. Does how much you have in your account make a difference?
I know you will probably tell me to save, and yes I will. But my October I will only be able to save about £2,500 and i'm going away for 6 months so will need about £6,000.
If not a loan, are there any other ways I could get it? Someone mentioned a credit union to me...
Mate you don't deserve a loan you've trashed your credit report and now looking for an easy solution to this, and your also going traveling you have got no intension of paying a loan back if accepted, I mean why would you when your credit report is already bad you say..0 -
Hi,
Unlike most of the other rather unhelpful responses to your post, I'll try and actually answer your questions. My responses in CAPS for ease of reading, i'm not shouting or trying to be rude.I'm planning to go travelling with friends in October this year. Basically I need a loan. I tried applying for one with my bank but that was over Christmas, just before I got paid and had about £30 in my bank. Does how much you have in your account make a difference? NOT UNLESS YOU ARE APPLYING WITH YOUR ACCOUNT HOLDING BANK OR YOUR BANK REPORTS YOUR CURRENT OVERDRAFT TO THE CREDIT REFERENCE AGENCIES. NOT ALL BANKS DO, CHECK YOUR CREDIT REPORTS TO FIND OUT FIRST IF YOU THINK YOURS MIGHT AND YOU'LL KNOW FOR SURE.
I know you will probably tell me to save, and yes I will. But my October I will only be able to save about £2,500 and i'm going away for 6 months so will need about £6,000. PERHAPS YOU COULD THINK ABOUT GOING FOR A SHORTER PERIOD THAT YOU CAN AFFORD? i'M GUESSING FOR 2.5 -3K YOU COULD MANAGE ABOUT 3 MONTHS GIVEN YOUR FIGURES? tHEN YOU WONT BE IN DEBT WHEN YOU COME BACK AND YOU'LL STILL HAVE HAD A GOOD BREAK TRAVELLING.
If not a loan, are there any other ways I could get it? Someone mentioned a credit union to me... AS MENTIONED ABOVE A CREDIT UNION IS UNLIKELY TO BE AN OPTION FOR THE AMOUNT YOU WANT TO BORROW. I'D ADVISE USE YOUR CREDIT CARD AND TRYING OVER THE NEXT 9 MONTHS TO INCREASE THE LIMIT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, IT WILL ALSO BE SAFER FOR YOU TO SPEND ON THE CARD WHILST YOU ARE AWAY RATHER THAN WITHDRWING CASH OR USING YOUR DEBIT CARD.

Have you thought about getting a second job until you go away, the alst thing you want is to be borrowing money for a holiday and when you come back you'll still be paying it off. Could you put it off a bit longer until you can afford to go or meet your friends later on and only take three months off work?"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

The credit union is a good place to get a loan, the interest is low and there's no credit check as such, not like the credit check a bank or loan company would run, its all based on your earnings and your ability to pay it back. Its quite a long application form, asking all kinds of things down to how much you spend on your hair and food lol but that would probably be your best bet. Good luck !0

Probably not what you want to hear, but a bit of harsh reality for you - whilst on holiday, you are not going to walk into a well paid job that will cover your living costs whilst you work part-time, and holiday part-time. The reality is more likely to be fruit picking, or some other itinerant labour, paid at local bottom-rung rates, and whilst it may slow down your rate of increasing your debt a little, it'll be negligible once you pay emergency/witholding tax etc.
So, you want a £6k holiday but can only afford a 3 month holiday - know what? Take the 3 months. Whilst you're on the road, it'll seem a lot longer anyway. It'll feel like forever. Especially if you're not working picking courgettes all day every day. £800/month will do you for a solo backpacking trip to large swathes of Asia, spend a few quid/night in a shared dorm and catch local transport. It will be very cheap, and aside from what you choose to squander on booze/etc, you can live very happily on that money, maybe even on less.
If your job is genuinely *guaranteed* on return, take that guarantee in cash advances. If they won't advance you the cash, the job isn't guaranteed, so don't go spending that money now. Instead, work like a nut and stash £2500, and have an awesome 3 months of pure youthful self-indulgence, come back broke, but without debts to ruin your return!0 -
Don't be a fool and borrow money for a holiday - do the grown up thing and work your butt off before you go to raise the funds - that way you can enjoy your holiday knowing what you are spending belongs to you - not the bank or loan company.
What if something happens on holiday and you fall ill and can't take up your job offer when you get back? You have ten months between now and October - stop going out, take extra work if you can find it, sell stuff, save, save, save!
Nobody is going to loan you money - you could decide whilst you are away that you don't want to come back!0 -
Please think this through realistically, I have travelled extensively spending 3 months in Australia & New Zealand and on other occasions South East Asia and Europe.
I have stayed in hostels where people are literally begging to borrow money as their plans did'nt work out...and no I won't lend it out as I worked b****y hard to save mine!
Think about cutting it down to three months, and think about all the scenarios you could encounter...First of all you will need a good all round travel insurance
Also you could be going to a place where there is a lot of competition for jobs( if it's on a regular backpackers trail)
depending on where you are travelling you may have to provide proof of income /and savings to ensure you will not be a drain on that countries welfare state.
Don't be swayed by your mates excitable ideas as you would'nt want to be paying off what is in effect a holiday in 5 years time.
Good luck in your travels, but give it some thought before you go.0
